We at Biddiscombe have made the leap to have the capability to manufacture organic products and to be certified as such.
When we manufacture products that will have an “organic” representation, we will operate in accordance with the processing requirements of the National Organic Program for food as administered by the US Department of Agriculture.
Currently, there are no established national standards in the USA for the marketing of organic cosmetic and skin care products. The laws relating to the National Organic Program (NOP) are focused on food although the USDA has reluctantly agreed to the use of its USDA Organic seal on personal care products that are made in compliance with the food rules. The NOP food rules do not apply to skin care products particularly well and as a result, only a small number of products with the USDA seal have been released.
Establishment of standards for organic cosmetics and other personal care products is in the best interests of consumers and will provide a level playing field for marketers. Biddiscombe supports the efforts to create a standard and is a member of Oasis, a non-profit group focused on the development of a standard for personal care products. We also support efforts to harmonize organic standards amongst nations since products and ingredients cross borders with high levels of frequency.
Our organic manufacturing certificate is applicable to organic products produced for our private label and contract manufacturing customers.
