Confidentialty is critical. We are fully willing to execute Non-disclosure Agreements and have drafts of documents that address most circumstances? Operationally we retain customer labels in a secure area of our plant. We do not disclose the indentity of our contract and private label customers without specific instructions from the customer.
Biddiscombe is registered with the Florida Department of Health and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as a cosmetic facility. The company operates in accordance with the suggested Good Manufacturing Practices created by the FDA.
We are not registered as a drug facility. A sunscreen or a pain-relieving analgesic lotion are considered to be drugs by the FDA and we can't make them. On the plus side, the incredible expenses relating to drug establishments do not find their way into our pricing. We are a cost effective alternative for non-drug needs.
We record the source and lot numbers of every single ingredient that goes in each product. In other words, for each batch we have full traceability. Batch records are kept for 5 years and retention samples for each batch we make are kept for 3 years.
Ultimately the label is the responsibility of the party marketing the product. However, we provide INCI ingredient list in accordance with US labeling regulations for any formulation created for a customer and can provide advice and support on the remainder of the labeling requirements.
We have a number of independent designers that we work with that can help. We also have a number of screen printing and label printing companies that we work with that do excellent work.
We carry basic stock bottles and some specialty packaging items. We will bring in packaging specific to an order and often our private label customers provide their own packaging. Dealing with minimums in packaging is always a challenge. We work closely with customers to find solutions to their packaging needs.
Yes we can. In fact, the company has been working on expanding its natural and organic capabilities recently. We have achieved certification as a manufacturer of organic products under The National Organic Program. Our certification has been provided by Organic Certifiers of Ventura, CA.
Protecting the environment by doing our part is extremely important to all of us here at Biddiscombe. We use recycled packaging and materials where possible and religously follow a recycling program with the office and the plant. We will continue to expand our efforts by linking with groups committed to preserving and inproving our environment.
Yes. Note that there are currently no US standard for organic personal care products. Various groups have been working on standards (Oasis and NSF) but as yet they do not exist. There are many products on the market that state they are organic but in reality they are not or contain only small amounts of organic ingredients. The USDA Organic seal that applies to food products can be used on a personal care product if it is made in accordance with the food rules and an outside certifying agency certifies the product. Biddiscombe is certified to this standard as an organic manufacturer and can produce products to the USDA food standard if required. We are hopeful that standards specifically designed for organic personal care products are adopted soon as this will enhance consumer confidence.
